Presenters Bio

Trev Massey

Originally from a little fishing hamlet north of London called Manchester, Trev´s love of cake & John Smiths put paid to his dreams of becoming a top class jockey! Instead he turned his hand to Dj-ing in the huge chain that was “Chicago Rock Cafe” in the UK before falling in love with radio in 2000.

After a stint fronting all the roadshows across the northwest, for various radio stations, Trev was offered the chance to co-present a show on Tower Fm in his home town of Bolton & Bury. The show became, officially, the most listened to show in the entire Northwest due to the humour and style of presenting of Trev & his co-host.

Trev brought a property over here 6 years ago (after being led astray at a very drunken BBQ, but that´s another story!) and fell in love with Spain so much, he made the move full time 2 years later. Trev love of radio never went away and he has been a regular presenter on Sunshine covering illness, holidays etc.

“I was delighted to be offered the weekend breakfast show! “ It´ll take a few weeks for the listeners to adjust to my style of presenting but, hopefully, the main thing is that people will start their day with a smile!!” “I love to laugh at everyday things, you´d cry if you didn´t!”Oh yeah, Trev also claims to be the inventor of “cheesy beans” but cannot provide any proof!!!!!Catch Trev every Saturday & Sunday mornings 9am til 12noon

Ricky Neil

Originally from that centre of the western world also known as Bristol, you may just occasionally be able to detect the slightest hint of a West Country accent. Ricky became interested in music during the sixties (that’s the decade not his age) and by 1974 was working as a DJ in night clubs in Bristol, although still at school!  Great fan of 70s disco and Euro Pop of that era, is a bit of a Euro-Vision geek too.

Moved to Dorset in the 90s and decided to have a change of career  so became the Head Verger of The Priory in Christchurch, he says that this it had nothing to do with being to walk through the streets in a long black dress every day, but those who know him just say “hmmm....”

Came to Spain in Jan 2001 and began Dj-ing and presenting karaoke shows around this area, loves setting and holding quiz nights and is proud that he is able to keep lots of women and a few men on the edge of their seats just by looking at his balls.................oh for pity’s sake, he’s a bingo caller too!

Is a big fan of Bristol City FC so knows nothing about football obviously and generally likes to help people have a good time.  He is blessed with the perfect face for radio.

Carla Stone
Since she could walk this lady has wanted to perform! Starting out as a redcoat at Butlins holiday camp when she was 18 and quickly progressing to professional singer.

Performing in various Bands throughout the 90’s, Carla then met husband to be when Mark auditioned to be the guitarist for her show band in 1995, he got the job and he got the girl.

As the front line of the band they decided to go it alone and Sunflower Valley Duo was created! 18 years later and one big move to Spain with their two children Danielle, now 12 and Mackenzie, now 8, they are still going strong and are one of the most popular acts here on the Costa Blanca, which was recently proved by the public as they were voted best band in the Costa Blanca 2012.

Carla has always had an interest in media and has written articles for local papers and Magazines, with subjects such as her X factor experience to local fiestas and articles of public interest. Last year she moved into Radio and gained a huge following very quickly from around the Costa’s and all over the world, thanks to the power of the internet. She also teaches young performers vocal technique through to stage performance.

Carla’s show’s are always lively and punchy, she’s not one to siesta. She admits she sometimes gets far too excited about things and believes that “everything in life has a funny side, and that you just have to look for it!” She certainly brings her zest for life and energy in abundance to her afternoon shows here at Sunshine Fm.

Mireille Toddington
Sunshine FM's Sunday Girl is Mireille Toddington - or the 'Hot Toddi' as she has been christened!  You can catch her Sunday lunchtime from 12noon to 2pm. Mireille has a varied taste in music and her listeners are always treated to great sing-a-long tunes from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90's - and her sunny and friendly manner has already made her a  firm favourite here on Sunshine FM.

When she not brightening up the airwaves Mireille is a full-time reporter for the Costa Blanca's favourite weekly newspaper, The CoastRider and also co-hosts Viva TV's news and current affairs programme 'Revista', which goes out Friday's and Saturday's at 8.30am and again at 6.30pm.

Before moving to sunny Spain Mirielle accumulated nearly 20 years experience in public relations, heading the Midlands Office of one of the UK's largest national PR agencies before setting up her own PR consultancy.
Mireille said: "My job is the UK was very serious. I love the more relaxed life-style over here and most of all I love doing my show on Sunshine FM. The listeners are great and I can relax and have a laugh. I always try to find a few amusing stories or jokes to share and, of course, I get to play some great music, its fantastic...what more could a girl ask for:-)

Eva Ford

With 5 years training in Acting and Musical Theatre, Eva  graduated from Drama School and went straight into Theatre, dancing in Cabaret shows and acting in tours, which soon tired her after being away from her family and boyfriend (now husband) for too long! So she then decided to get an agent specialising in Television work which instantly opened many doors for her within the T.V. Media. Eva has appeared in many adverts of well known brands such as Hellmann´s,

The Daily Mail, Shreddies, and Mother Care (to name a few!) She can also be found in various Music videos, in both acting and dance roles. At 8 and a half months pregnant she was still trudging on and off The London Underground for castings, she loved the business so much and was simply not prepared to let anything to stop her! After the birth of her first son (who at just 2 months of age landed his first advert role) Eva and her husband decided that family time was too precious and wanted to live the dream of a simple life abroad, stress free of the rat race.

However within months of settling she soon missed her true passion for the world of performing and quickly sent her CV to the two main production companies for television within the Costa Blanca. She was so happy to be back in the world of TV, working for Sol productions as a TV presenter appearing 5 days a week on various shows. After a year with Sol productions Eva then moved over to VIVA TV again as a presenter and still enjoys working with them today.

"I am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to work as a DJ for Sunshine Fm, it's something I always wanted to get into but have been so terrified to attempt! It really is just the icing on the cake for my life here in Spain!"

Emperor Rosko

emperorroskosmall.jpgRosko receiving his award in December 2008 at a special lunch inducting him into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame. Rosko is seen here receiving his award from Chairman John Myers. He was the only person in the room wearing a hat - but then he was allowed to!

Sarah Simpson

Sarah has been living here on the Costa Blanca for eight years after leaving the serene surrounds of her Isle of Wight home.

She started off as a singer and DJ before moving into radio two years ago. Sarah says it's the best career move she has ever made and her enthusiasm for the job burns through the Sunshine FM airwaves on her lunchtime show throughout the week.

Sarah's musical roots come from the likes of Billy Jo Spears, Kenny Rogers, America and a very old Top Of The Pops album featuring the Osmonds, but if you listen to her lunchtime show every day, you will know she has broadened her musical horizons considerably since then!

Listening to Sarah will give you the ultimate flavour of the hottest artists in music today and whether you fancy catching tracks from the first album she bought, Sting's Fields of Gold, or the latest tunes from the best acts around, this is the show for you.

The sexiest voice on the Costa Blanca is on Sunshine FM weekdays 11am till 2pm and on Sundays 3pm till 7pm.

Nick Gold
Nick has been involved in the entertainment industry for seventeen years and has travelled extensively throughout Europe as his entertaining career has progressed.

Originally a keyboard player for nine years, Nick took to singing nine years ago and has not looked back since, and after  moving to Spain he has become widely known as one of the most versatile and exciting entertainers available along the Spanish coast.

The highlight of his career in Spain was entertaining his largest ever audience of just over a thousand people at the prestigous Teatro Municipal in the heart of the Alicante region, where he received a standing ovation.

Nick started entertaining on the cruise liners in 2006 after his natural ability to entertain the crowds on and off stage was observed. Whilst on the cruise liners he experienced a different side to entertaining a crowd, one previously not experienced in bars, clubs and theatres.

During the time Nick was entertaining on the cruise liners as a fly-on act, he was also entertaining audiences in bars, clubs and theatres throughout Spain, all the time meeting, collaborating and socialising with other entertainers along the way and gaining new experiences that would ultimately intergrate into his personality and his current stage show.

Nick has an amazing range of vocal skills allowing him to turn his voice to almost any type of music, from the 50’s to the modern day, Pavarotti to Meatloaf or Tom Jones to The Rat Pack, Nick has it all covered and delivers it in his own unique way.

Mick Masters

Mick Masters has been living on the Costa Balnca for the last 10 years leaving the UK in search of sun sea and sseeeeeeee,

A popular figure on the Costas Mick can be found entertaining holiday makers at various venues along the coast with his own unique brand of humour and wit

A welcome addition to the Sunshine FM family Mick can be heard on Saturdays at 1pm with his Little Bit in the Middle and every Tuesday between 8pm and 10pm

Chris Marsden

You can tell that Chris Marsden has landed on his feet with his current job as he has little hesitation in naming the one item he couldn't be without if he was stranded on a desert island - a radio!

Sheffield-born Chris and his unique brand of madcap and unpredictable banter lights up the Sunshine FM airways every evening for the best Drivetime show on the Costa Blanca.

However, Chris' sublime professionalism in front of the microphone does not extend to his somewhat eccentric initial tastes in music. The first record he ever bought is hardly one to shout about, with Keith Harris and Orville's 'I Wish I Could Fly' about as embarrassing as it gets for a first purchase in a record shop. The Sunshine FM staff have vowed to stop him from ever dusting down his vinyl copy of the dreaded tune and disgracing our airwaves with it.

So great entertainment and quality music are guaranteed as Chris Marsden's Drivetime Show bursts into the Sunshine FM studio between 5pm and 8pm every weekday. This is one show you will not want to miss.

Steve Ashley

Steve originally is from the London area, but lived for much of his life in the USA and now for seven years resides in the Costa de Almeria. His background is hugely varied: from professional ballroom competitor and teacher, to computer programmer, to graphics and photography. Steve also produced and hosted specialist music shows on KPCC-FM Pasadena, California for three years and two more shows for almost three years for Valle Radio in Albox, Almeria.

Steve's interest in vintage music of many styles originated back in his teens, listening to the variety shows of Jack Jackson, Sam Costa and others on the BBC Light Programme. Since then, his tastes have widened even further and his show reflects a huge cross-section of musical styles from the 1920s through to the 1960s, and beyond if a track fits the remit!

You'll hear American and British big bands like Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Ambrose and Ray Noble; great vocals and some comedy, along with some lesser-known music from those eras. Some of the artists have been unfortunately long forgotten, but some are immortal: Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Shirley Bassey, Doris Day, Nat King Cole… and that's just some of the singers!

Tune in every Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for a magical ride through musical history. You'll be in for some great entertainment!

David Hamilton

Sunshine FM were delighted to welcome broadcasting royalty to its ranks when David Hamilton joined our stable of presenters.

A veteran broadcaster of almost 50 years, David was a presenter on BBC radio shows featuring The Beatles and the Rolling Stones back in the 1960s and even appeared on an episode of Monty Phython's Flying Circus in the 1970s.

A former star of BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2, his career has enjoyed a revival in recent years as he has presented a host of shows featuring music's 'Million Sellers' and that is the format of the show he brings to Costa Blanca's finest station.
David's distinctive tones burst out of the Sunshine FM speakers every Sunday between 12pm and 2pm and he is back for more every Tuesday night between 8pm and 10pm.

Simon Morton

Simon is one of the Costa Blanca's top entertainers and he seems to have been destined for a life in showbiz from an early age.

He began his musical career at the age of five learning to play the piano and progressed to trumpet. At the tender age of seven, he got a scholarship to Lincoln Cathedral Choir School where he stayed for seven years, eventually becoming head chorister. If only Britain's Got Talent was on TV back then!

From there, he joined the Royal Marine Band Service where he did prestigious engagements from Royal Weddings to the Royal Tournament, while also appearing on a host of television shows such as Blue Peter and Pebble Mill at One.
After fourteen years, he decided to become a professional civilian musician and his talents are not only heard across the Costa Blanca on Sunshine FM every morning.

Pop into one of numerous top entertainment venues in the area and you might just find Simon strutting his stuff until the wee small hours, but he always sounds bright and breezy for his highly successful breakfast show all the same.
Often wacky, always unpredictable, Simon Morton's breakfast show is compulsive listening and you don't want to miss a second of his unique charm every morning between 8am and 11am
